Laptops are powerful enough to create music in your room so if you think you may want this portability to also do other things then get a good powerful laptop like a MacBook Pro which I recommend or a Dell XPS which I recommend second if you want a PC. Choose an audio interface and a analog large diaphragm condenser mic. No USB mic unless you're podcasting or doing video tutorials. Tell me more of what your needs are and hopefully I can help better.

This article is soo helpful except I'm still extremely confused on which to buy because I am trying to make a music studio in my bedroom since I want to become a music artist . I need help to understand which would be better between what mic and whether to get a laptop or computer so if you could reply it would be great . Thanks -Monique

Once you open Audio MIDI Setup go to the top "Window" menu option and select "Show MIDI Window". You will see the Network icon there.

While you have the Audio MIDI Setup window open, you can go to the Preferences and choose to see the MIDI Network widow by default.

Hi, I must be missing a set-up step in between Audio Midi Set Up and "Network Midi Set Up"? I'm using a 4S and Logic Studio. I've got Audio Midi Set Up open, but how do I access Network Midi Settings? The videos seem to miss this step, and it's very possible i'm missing something obvious? Thanks!

This is an easy fix. What's happening is that the controller is sending both controller MIDI and note MIDI so you just need to turn one of them off (the note MIDI).

In Cubase Go To: Device Setup >> MIDI Port Setup. Then next to 'Network AC-7 Core', deselect the X where you see 'In All MIDI'.

This will remove the AC-7 Core from being active as one of your note MIDI devices like your keyboard controller.

Let me know if this works for you.

Hey. First of all thanks for introducing me to this app that seems quite what I need. :-) Since I can't seem to find the answer to my question on the Dev web page, I'm trying my chances here with what may be a very noob problem: every push of a button both works as intended BUT also makes my Cubase play a note... Somehow a general midi instrument plays the apps midi events and I can't seem to find it. Would appreciate your help. Thanks a bunch!

You have a Mac which uses CoreMIDI so you don't require DS MIDI Wi-Fi. Your issue is a simple fix. Once you click on the Audio MIDI icon, and if you only see the Audio icon, click in View at the top menu and select MIDI. In the Preferences you can change this as well, so when you open this utility you will see the MIDI icon instead of the audio icon. Let me know if this solved the issue.
